Coach Fonzo Martinez leads the Boys Varsity Basketball program at McKinney Christian Academy with a passion that goes far beyond the game. With over a decade of coaching experience, including five years at MCA, Coach Martinez has become the winningest coach in school history — but his greatest victories happen off the court.
Known for his intentional focus on culture, Coach Martinez is dedicated to developing young men into servant leaders, both in their faith and in life. His mission is to mentor student-athletes to be great stewards of what they can control, to leave every space better than they found it, and to become Christ-centered husbands, fathers, and men of integrity.
Before MCA, Coach Martinez served as Head Coach at Flower Mound Coram Deo, where he also became the winningest coach in school history. Over his career, he has led teams to five district championships, four state tournament appearances, and one state title. He has been honored as TAPPS District Coach of the Year three times and TABC Coach of the Year twice.
In the off-season, he continues to invest in elite athletes as the Head Coach of the Pro Skills Nike EYBL team.
Coach Martinez is married to his wife, Mandy, and is the proud father of four: Saige, Sloane, Noah, and Malachi. His calling is clear — to use basketball as a tool to shape hearts, sharpen minds, and prepare young men to glorify God in all they do.
