On January 20, the McKinney Christian boys soccer team faced the Dallas Christian Chargers in a district matchup. The Mustangs started the scoring quickly when senior Jaxon Dover-Smith netted the first goal in the 12th minute. However, a foul in the Mustang penalty box gave the Chargers a penalty kick just three minutes later, tying the game at 1–1. After back-and-forth play, senior Kody Zbranek scored the Mustangs' second goal in the 35th minute, giving McKinney Christian a 2–1 lead heading into halftime. The second half began slowly, with both teams trading possession for the first 15 minutes. A handball in the box then awarded the Mustangs a penalty kick, which senior Hudson Clayton converted to extend the lead to 3–1. The Chargers continued to attack but were unable to score again. In the 66th minute, Zbranek added a highlight-worthy goal to seal the Mustangs' 4–1 victory. Senior, Noah Melton, reflected on the win, saying, "We had a lot of guys not playing today, but we had some guys step up and play really well, and I don't think we could have won without them."
