On Friday, January 16, the McKinney Christian Mustangs basketball team faced the Dallas Shelton Chargers in a district contest. The game started close, but the Mustangs pulled away, leading 31-9 by the end of the first quarter. Sophomore Elias Guadamuz had the best game of his career with 15 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals, and he had this to say about the game: "I came ready to do my job, and my teammates put me in great spots all night. That's how it's supposed to look." Junior, Diego Landin, led the Mustangs in scoring with 25 points and 8 rebounds.  The Mustangs ultimately won 84-28.

The JV team also had a dominant performance against Shelton, winning 66-9. Freshman Gabriel Castillo played a key role in the win and spoke after the game, saying, "I just focused on defending hard and letting that create opportunities offensively."

The McKinney Christian Mustangs will face off against the Tyler All-Saints at home on Tuesday, January 20.
