McKinney Christian Academy traveled to Dallas Christian School for their first district game of the season. The Mustangs started strong, taking a 17-10 lead in the first quarter, thanks in large part to senior guard
Drew Hamilton, who scored 10 of the team's 17 points during that period. Expecting a physical match-up, the Mustangs focused on tough, aggressive defense and relentless rebounding, regardless of their shooting performance. This strategy paid off as they held the Chargers to just 9 points in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a 34-19 lead.
After the break, the Mustangs intensified their full-court pressure, forcing turnovers and creating transition opportunities that allowed them to widen their lead. Their relentless energy on both ends of the court secured a convincing 68-44 victory. Hamilton led all scorers with 27 points, while senior
Caleb Atherton contributed 10 points and senior
John Clark added 9 points to help the Mustangs achieve their first district win."It's inspiring to see how hard this team plays on defense and how selflessly they share the ball on offense," said assistant coach Marcus Venible. The Mustangs will aim to build on this momentum as they hit the road again on Tuesday, January 14th, to face Bishop Gorman.
