On Wednesday, May 1, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity men's baseball team played the Colleyville Covenant Cougars for game three of the series. This was an important game for the Mustangs as it decided whether or not they would move on to the regional playoffs or end their season. Senior
Landen Jones started on the mound for the Mustangs, pitching a complete game and only allowing seven hits and one run over seven innings and walking one. Offensively, the Mustangs got on the board in the top of the second inning after junior
Micah Gagnon singled and junior
Marc Jensen laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Junior
John Clark increased the team's lead when he hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the third inning. Also, Jensen led the team in runs batted with two. In the last inning, the Cougars managed to put together one run, but that was not enough to win, as the Mustangs took the game with a final score of 5-1. Their next game will be a three-game series against the Lubbock Trinity Lions beginning on Tuesday, May 7, going through Wednesday, May 8. This game will take place at a neutral site in Abilene, Texas, at Abilene Christian High School.
