Shelby Truesdale is in her third season coaching Middle School Volleyball at McKinney Christian Academy and brings over a decade of coaching experience to the court. Her coaching journey includes successful stints at Dowell Middle School—where she was named MISD Middle School Coach of the Year in 2018—as well as with Arete and San Angelo Force Volleyball Club.
An accomplished athlete herself, Coach Truesdale was an NCAA Division II All-American Libero (2014, 2015), Lone Star Conference Female Athlete of the Year (2015), and a three-time All-State Setter in high school. She was also named Lone Star Conference Libero of the Year in 2013, showcasing her elite versatility and leadership on the court.
Coach Truesdale’s approach goes far beyond volleyball fundamentals.
“I believe in coaching beyond the court in every aspect of their lives. Sports will only be a small chapter in their life, and I want to make sure they have the tools necessary to be successful beyond that. More importantly, I want to ensure their identity isn't solely what they do—I want to constantly be pointing the athletes back to Christ and the image-bearer and identity they have in Him.”
As a middle school coach, she focuses on developing well-rounded players—not just by position, but in every area of the game. With a heart for discipleship and a competitive spirit, Coach Truesdale is committed to preparing athletes for life, sport, and faith.
