Tara Ackmann is in her 14th season as the head volleyball coach at McKinney Christian Academy and her 23rd year overall. She has led the Lady Mustangs to the state playoffs every year she has been there. She has also been with Arete since the club started.
Ackmann is originally from Elkhorn, Nebraska. In high school she played middle and outside. She was recruited and went onto play for the University of South Dakota then transferred after her sophomore year to play for Texas Woman’s University where she still holds records at the university.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a minor in English from Texas Women’s University.
Ackmann still currently plays indoor and sand.
Coaching Philosophy - An athlete's character is more important than their talent. My goal is to create well-rounded players on the court in a positive culture. I strive to enhance my players talents while developing their fundamentals, leadership skills, self-discipline, and work ethic.
She is married to her husband Kent for the past 20 years, who is also a teacher and coach. They have a daughter Kadence who is a senior at MCA and their son Trase who is a 7th grader.
