Mackenzie Cowan is in her 5th year of coaching and her 2nd year as the head golf coach. A former all-state team golfer in high school, she went on to play collegiate golf at Texas A&M University.Â
Under her leadership, one of her favorite memories is when the Men's golf team qualified for the state tournament last spring.
Mackenzie believes in the importance of character over talent, aiming to develop well-rounded athletes who possess strong fundamentals, leadership skills, self-discipline, and work ethic. She is passionate about creating a positive and nurturing environment where her players can grow both on and off the course. She believes she has the best of both worlds, a state medalist team with Christ-like character.Â
Whenever she gets the chance, Mackenzie still loves to play golf with her family and former teammates. When she's not on the course, you might find her enjoying a game of pickleball with her husband and their dog Pickles.Â
She lives by the quote from Ben Hogan: "The most important shot in golf is the next one," reflecting her forward-thinking approach to both golf and life. Her favorite Bible verse, which guides her life and coaching philosophy, is Psalm 27:1: "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?"
