The McKinney Christian Academy Mustangs capped off a special Senior Night, securing the TAPPS 4A District 3 Championship with a 74-49 victory over Tyler All Saints. The win improved the Mustangs' record to 35-1 overall and 7-0 in district play, marking another milestone in their season.
Before tip-off, MCA honored its senior class, celebrating the contributions of John Clark, Drew Hamilton, Sean Agyapong, Jace Scott, Caleb Atherton, and Ace Parker alongside their families. The night's emotions were evident early on, as the Mustangs found themselves in a tightly contested first quarter, leading by just four points, 18-14. However, once they settled in, they began to display the same relentless defense and unselfish play that has defined their season.
The Mustangs broke the game open in the second quarter, scoring 25 points while holding All Saints to just 12. They refocused on their identity at halftime—defensive intensity and team-first basketball. That commitment showed in the third quarter as they smothered All Saints, allowing only seven points while pouring in another 20 of their own to put the game out of reach.
As the final buzzer sounded, the Mustangs celebrated in front of their home crowd, officially claiming the district title. A new tradition was born as they cut down the nets, sharing the moment with family, friends and fans who have supported them throughout their remarkable season.
Senior guard Drew Hamilton led the way with 19 points, while junior guard Manny Weaver added 17. Senior guard Sean Agyapong played a key role, finishing with 10 points on the night.
"We are not looking ahead to playoffs just yet," said head coach Fonzo Martinez. "We know we have a tough opponent in Bishop Gorman and we would love to finish out district strong."
With the district title secured, the Mustangs now turn their attention to their final district home game against Bishop Gorman on Monday.
