On Friday night, the McKinney Christian Academy Mustangs showcased why they've been one of the most dominant teams in TAPP's 4A this season, defeating Dallas Christian 74-47. The victory marked their 33rd win, improving their record to 33-1.
The evening began with a special celebration for senior guard Drew Hamilton, who was honored for surpassing 1,000 career points—an achievement that places him among just five players in program history to reach this milestone. Fueled by that moment and their signature defensive intensity, the Mustangs took control early. After a competitive start, they ended the first quarter on an 11-4 run to take a 22-14 lead. From there, their relentless defensive pressure and fast-paced offense dictated the game, outscoring the Chargers 39-18 in the second and third quarters to build a commanding 30-point lead.
Senior guard John Clark led the Mustangs with 19 points, demonstrating his consistency and leadership on the court. Senior guard Sean Agyapong contributed with six steals and scored 16 points, igniting several fast-break opportunities. Junior guard Manny Weaver added a spark off the bench, tallying 14 points and three steals while further exemplifying the team's depth and unselfish play.
"The way these guys celebrate each other's success is what makes this group so special," said head coach Fonzo Martinez. "It's not just about winning; it's about how they play for one another."
The Mustangs now prepare for their next challenge, hosting No. 6-ranked Bishop Gorman at home this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in what promises to be a thrilling match-up.
